Waste Recovery Facilities

HOURS OF OPERATION

Tuesday and Thursday: 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM
- Gates close at 3:45 PM to ensure safe offloading and proper site security procedures.

Saturday:

  • Morning: 8:00 AM – 11:30 AM
  • Afternoon: 12:30 PM – 4:00 PM

- Lunch break from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM (no access during this time). Please ensure that you are off the site by 11:30.

- Gates close at 3:45 PM to ensure safe offloading and proper site security procedures.

Our terms of use

  • A limit of 16 visits will be permitted to any facility in a calendar year
  • Gates will be closed 15 minutes before the facility closes
  • ATVs and dumping trailers will not be granted access to waste recovery facilities
  • Material must be separated onsite and offloaded by hand
  • Commercial vehicles will not be permitted onsite
  • Commercial waste will not be accepted – Commercial waste is any material that is accumulated as a result of a contractor doing work or a through paid interaction. For example, if shingles are removed by a contractor paid to do so, then the material is not acceptable at the Waste Recovery Facility. Renovation materials from a rental property or commercial property are also considered commercial and are not accepted. If you have questions please call so we can help before you start your project.
  • For safety of children under the age of 16 please ensure they remain within your vehicle while onsite.
  • For safety of the general public and staff please ensure animals are secured within your vehicle while onsite.
  • Site visitors are required to adhere to our respectful workplace program at our facilities. Click for details.
  • If there are line up please be patient and remain in your vehicle. 

Small light items must be bagged, all bagged waste must be in clear (transparent) bags. This is to reduce risk to our employees by minimizing contact with waste materials. Waste in dark (non-transparent) garbage bags will not be permitted on site. Blue transparent bags are not acceptable as they are for recycling only.

All facilities will close Saturdays between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Please ensure that your are off site by 11:30.


Accepted Items:

  • Furniture
  • Mattresses
  • Appliances (fridges and freezers must have doors/lids removed)
  • Scrap metal
  • Electronics*
  • Tires, including ATV, highway, passenger, light truck and motorcycle (rims must be removed before drop-off)
  • Propane tanks (with valves removed)
  • Construction and demolition waste (including wood debris and shingles)
  • Trees and branches less than 3 meters in length and 6 inches on the round.

Items Not Accepted:

  • Black bag garbage
  • Recyclables or anything in transparent blue bags
  • Organic materials (food, cardboard, books, leaves, grass clippings)
  • Footwear, clothing, or textiles (curtains, bedding, fabric)
  • Pressurized containers
  • Brick and concrete
  • Hazardous waste
  • Liquids
  • Fish nets and ropes

Electronics can also be dropped off at any ERSB waste recovery facility, except Harbour Grace and Cavendish, which do not accept electronic materials.

Wood Chips: Free wood chips may be available for pickup at select locations. Availability is limited and varies by site. For more information, please contact us.

All residents in the Eastern Region can also use the residential drop-off at Robin Hood Bay.
