We provide weekly collection for regular household garbage and bi-weekly collection of recyclables to many communities in eastern Newfoundland.
Please follow the following guidelines to ensure that your garbage and recycling are collected as scheduled:
Household Garbage: Use standard-size clear garbage bags (approximately 26” × 34”).
Recyclables: Use standard-size blue recycling bags only (approximately 26” × 34”).
Unlimited Recycling: There is no limit on the number of blue recycling bags that may be set out on scheduled recycling days.
Privacy Bag: Residents may place out one standard-size opaque (non-transparent) privacy bag per week for personal items such as sanitary or incontinence products.
Garbage Bag Limit: A maximum of five (5) garbage bags may be set out per week. If a privacy bag is used, it counts toward the five-bag limit.
Bag Weight: Each bag must not exceed 20 kg (45 lbs).
Curbside Placement: Place materials at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on collection day, within 4.5 m (15 ft) of the roadside or pavement.
Cardboard Bundles: Bundled cardboard must not exceed 1.5 m (4 ft) in length.
Secure Bags: All bags must be securely tied to prevent spillage.
Non-Collection & Tagging: Materials that do not meet collection requirements will be tagged with an orange sticker indicating the reason(s) for non-collection. Once the issue has been corrected, the material will be collected on the next scheduled collection day.
Items Not Accepted: The following items are not accepted through regular curbside collection:
Service Delays: Collection services may be delayed due to weather conditions, equipment breakdowns, or staffing shortages.
Reporting Missed Collections: Report missed collections directly to ERSB:
Service Prioritization: During service disruptions, garbage collection may be prioritized over recycling collection.
Collection Updates: Stay informed about collection changes, delays, and reminders through Voyent Alert, a free notification service. An email address or phone number is all that is required to register.

Garbage Box Upkeep: Keep garbage boxes clean, in good repair, and free of snow, ice, and debris. Garbage boxes containing maggots, wasp nests, or evidence of rodents or other vermin will not be serviced.
Container Standards: Waste will not be collected from makeshift containers, such as old freezers or similar structures. Unsuitable containers will be tagged to notify the property owner.
Garbage Box Lids: Residents are responsible for ensuring garbage box lids are closed after collection.
Keep Collection Areas Clear: Non-waste items, such as bicycles, toys, and other personal property, should be kept away from collection areas to ensure safe and efficient service.
Waste that does not meet these requirements may be left behind. Check for an orange or yellow tag indicating possible reasons why waste was not collected. Once remedied, it will be removed on the following collection day.
