Curbside Collection you can count on
We provide weekly collection for regular household garbage and bi-weekly collection of recyclables to many communities in eastern Newfoundland.
Collection Guidelines:
- ERSB clear bag policy started on January 1, 2024
- Regular garbage must be in clear, see-through bags
- Recyclables must be placed in transparent blue bags
- Use regular-sized garbage and recycling bags (66 cm x 82.5 cm)
- Place bags at the curb by 7 a.m., no more than 4.5 meters (15 feet) from the pavement
- Each bag must not exceed 20 kg (45 lbs) in weight
- Each household can use one privacy bag per week
- Bundled materials should be no longer than 1.5 meters (4 feet)
- Sharp objects (i.e. broken glass, needles, knives) must be in a puncture-proof container and clearly marked “broken glass” or “sharps”
- Do not leave non-waste items near the collection area; they may be collected as bulk waste
- Check your collection calendar for local bag limits
- Ensure waste is accessible and free of snow or debris
- Garbage boxes with maggots, wasp nests, or vermin will not be collected for safety reasons
- All bags must be tied securely
- We no longer collect waste from old appliances (e.g., chest freezers) used as garbage boxes. Unsuitable containers will be tagged
Not accepted for curbside collection:
- Bulk waste
- Household hazardous waste
- Fish nets and rope
- Containers of liquid
- All bagged and non bagged electronics
Rejected Waste
Waste that does not meet these requirements may be left behind. Check for an orange or yellow tag indicating the reason waste was not collected. Once remedied, it will be removed on the following collection day.
